About

Many Glacier Campground is one of Glacier National Park's most popular campgrounds, located on the east side of the Continental Divide at approximately 4,500 feet elevation. The campground sits within a mature forest of Douglas fir, lodgepole pine and quaking aspen, providing partial shade for almost all of its 109 campsites. The setting offers views of nearby peaks including Altyn, Henkel, Wilber, Grinnell Point, Allen and Wynn mountains, with Swiftcurrent Creek and Lake nearby. The campground provides excellent access to day hiking and overnight backpacking trails. Trailheads start at higher elevations than those on the west side of the park, resulting in shorter ascents to reach scenic vistas. The area is frequented by grizzly and black bears, and visitors often have opportunities to view wildlife including bighorn sheep and moose. The campground is located about 22 miles from St. Mary and 12 miles west of the town of Babb, Montana, the closest community with services including a general store, gas station and restaurants. The campground accommodates both tent and RV campers, though only 13 sites can accommodate vehicles up to 35 feet in length. During peak season, campsites cost $30 per night and include picnic tables and fire rings. Each site can accommodate up to eight people and two vehicles with a maximum of two tents per site. Reservations become available on a rolling basis six months in advance.

Directions

Located on the east side of Glacier National Park near the end of Many Glacier Road. From Montana State Highway 89, turn west at the town of Babb (8 miles north of St. Mary). Drive approximately 12 miles west following signs for Many Glacier Campground. The campground is located about 1/4 mile before the road ends at the Swiftcurrent Motor Inn parking lot.
