About

Summit Campground is located at 5,200 feet elevation on Marias Pass in the Front Range of the Rocky Mountains, offering spectacular high-elevation camping along US Highway 2. The campground features 17 campsites and serves as a gateway to backcountry exploration, with a 3-mile spur trail connecting directly to the Continental Divide Scenic Trail and the Bob Marshall Wilderness. The campground is situated adjacent to Memorial Square, which features a miniature Washington Monument commemorating President Theodore Roosevelt and the Blackfeet tribe. This unique historical landmark adds cultural significance to the natural setting. Bears frequent the area, and mandatory food storage in approved containers is required at all times. Facilities include vault toilets and drinking water from a hand pump when the campground is operational. The location experiences heavy use during the summer season due to its proximity to Glacier National Park and access to wilderness trails. Sites are available for $20 per night with an additional $10 fee for extra vehicles. The campground operates on a first-come, first-served basis, though some sites may be reservable through Recreation.gov.
