About

Caroga Lake Campground is situated in the southern portion of Adirondack Park on the shores of East Caroga Lake in Fulton County. Opened to the public in 1929, this historic campground has been welcoming visitors for nearly a century. The facility offers 105 large, level campsites capable of accommodating everything from small tents to 40-foot RVs. The campground loops were developed by the Civilian Conservation Corps in 1933, and the site has been expanded over the decades to its current size. Recreational opportunities abound at Caroga Lake. The sandy beach provides a designated swimming area, and visitors can rent rowboats, canoes, or kayaks to explore East Caroga Lake. A small craft boat launch is available for those bringing their own watercraft. Anglers can fish for chain pickerel, smallmouth bass, splake, yellow perch, black crappie, and various other species. A unique feature is the diversified exercise course with 18 stations winding through the campground. Nearby Ferris Lake Wild Forest and Shaker Mountain Wild Forest offer extensive hiking trail networks within minutes of the campground. The campground provides modern amenities including hot showers, flush toilets, a trailer dump station, and a recycling center. Each campsite has a picnic table and fireplace. The area is rich in history from the French and Indian War and Revolutionary War periods. Shopping, restaurants, and a municipal 18-hole golf course are located nearby in the Caroga Lake area.
