About
Lewey Lake Campground is located in the heart of the Adirondack Park on a scenic 90-acre lake, offering 195 secluded, wooded campsites ideal for both tent and trailer camping. Managed by the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation, this established campground has been welcoming visitors since the 1920s and features modern amenities including flush toilets, hot showers in two accessible buildings, and a trailer dump station. The campground offers boat rentals (canoes, rowboats, and kayaks) and a shallow boat launch suitable for smaller vessels. Anglers can fish for lake trout, lake whitefish, northern pike, smallmouth bass, yellow perch, and rock bass. Recreational opportunities abound with a sand swimming beach, picnic areas with tables and fireplaces, and a rentable picnic pavilion. The 3.9-mile Snowy Mountain Fire Tower Trail begins less than 3 miles from the campground entrance, providing breathtaking views of surrounding lakes and mountains. The campground is located 12 miles south of Indian Lake village and 12 miles north of Speculator on Route 30, offering easy access to area attractions including the Adirondack Museum at Blue Mountain Lake and various restaurants, shopping, and golf courses in nearby villages. Lewey Lake Campground has accessible features including wheelchair-accessible picnic areas, beach access routes, and two shower buildings. The facility also offers a Junior Naturalist Program for children ages 5-13. Reservations are available through ReserveAmerica, with same-day reservations accepted until 5:00 p.m. on the day of arrival. Walk-ins are not permitted.
Directions
From I-90, take Exit 27 at Amsterdam; north on Route 30 through Wells and Speculator. Campground is 12 miles north of Speculator on the left. From I-87, take Exit 23 at Warrensburg; Route 9 north to Route 28 west to Indian Lake Village. Turn left onto Route 30. Campground is 12 miles south of Indian Lake on the right.
