Lewey Lake Campground occupies a prime location in Hamilton County on the shores of Lewey Lake, a 90-acre body of water in the central Adirondack Park. The campground provides 189 secluded, wooded sites suitable for tents, trailers, and RVs up to 40 feet. Each site accommodates up to 6 people with a maximum of 2 tents or 1 camping unit plus 1 tent. The area is known for excellent paddling opportunities on both Lewey Lake and the connected Indian Lake, with boat launches available for each. Facilities include modern amenities such as flush toilets and hot showers in accessible bathhouses, potable water spigots throughout the campground, and a trailer dump station. A sand beach provides a designated swimming area with a bathhouse. The campground offers canoe, rowboat, and kayak rentals, firewood and ice sales, and picnic pavilion rentals. Recycling services are available on-site. The surrounding area provides access to hiking trails and fishing opportunities. Motor boats are permitted on Lewey Lake, though the shallow launch is better suited for smaller vessels. Quiet hours are observed from 10 PM to 7 AM, with generator use limited to 5 hours daily during specified windows. Pets are welcome with current rabies vaccination and a 6-foot leash.

Directions

From New York State Thruway (I-90), take Exit 27 at Amsterdam. Head north on Route 30 through the villages of Wells and Speculator. The campground is 12 miles north of Speculator on Route 30, on the left side of the road.
