About

Glimmerglass State Park sits on the eastern shore of Otsego Lake, the legendary "Glimmerglass" featured in James Fenimore Cooper's Leatherstocking Tales. The 593-acre park offers 50 campsites ranging from standard tent sites to electric hookup sites suitable for RVs up to 40 feet. Sites 1-37 feature 30-amp electric hookups, while sites 50-64 are walk-in tent sites near Beaver Pond with short walks (60-100 feet) from parking. Every site includes a picnic table, grill, and fire ring. The campground provides modern amenities including warm showers, flush toilets, potable water, and a dump station. A swimming beach on Otsego Lake is available to campers, along with hiking trails through the forested landscape. The park also features playgrounds, basketball courts, and an ADA-accessible kayak launch. Campfire wood is sold in the park. Located eight miles north of Cooperstown, the park offers easy access to the Baseball Hall of Fame, Fenimore Art Museum, and The Farmers' Museum. The area is known for its scenic beauty, with Otsego Lake providing excellent opportunities for swimming, fishing, and paddling.
