About
Indian Lake Islands Campground is located on the southern shore of 4,365-acre Indian Lake in the Adirondack Park, offering one of the region's most sought-after wilderness camping experiences. All 55 campsites are accessible only by boat, situated on beautiful forested islands or along the remote shoreline. Campers register at the boat launch adjacent to Lewey Lake Campground on Route 30, then paddle or motor to their reserved site. Each large, well-forested campsite provides exceptional privacy and includes a picnic table, fireplace, and access to pit toilets. The lake offers outstanding recreational boating and fishing opportunities, with species including lake trout, landlocked salmon, smallmouth bass, northern pike, and rainbow trout. Power boats, canoes, and kayaks are permitted, and rentals are available. Nearby hiking trails provide additional adventure, including the challenging 3.5-mile climb up Snowy Mountain for panoramic views, the 1.5-mile Watch Point Trail overlooking Indian Lake, and water-access trails to Baldface Mountain and John Mack Pond. The campground operates from mid-May through early September and is managed by the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation.
