About
Located in the southern portion of Adirondack Park, Sacandaga Campground provides a serene camping experience on the banks of the Sacandaga River. The confluence of the east and west branches of the river creates splendid scenery amid a forest of white pine and northern hardwoods. The campground features 143 sites suitable for tents and smaller RVs, with amenities including hot showers, flush toilets, picnic tables, fire rings, and a trailer dump station. Fishing is excellent with brown trout, rainbow trout, brook trout, walleye, and smallmouth bass in the river. During spring high-water periods, kayakers and canoeists run the river between Wells and Northville. A boat launch provides access to Algonquin Lake for paddling and fishing. Hikers can explore Auger Falls (a 1.5-mile hike about 10 miles north), the Northville-Lake Placid Trail, Silver Lake Wilderness Area, and Wilcox Lake Wild Forest. The campground offers a Junior Naturalist Program for children ages 5-13 featuring nature-based activities and embroidered patches. Sites accommodate up to 6 people with a maximum of 2 vehicles. Quiet hours are strictly enforced from 10 PM to 7 AM, and generator use is limited to 5 hours daily during specified windows.
Directions
From Amsterdam, take Route 30 north approximately 40 miles to the campground at 1047 State Highway Route 30, Northville, NY 12134.
