About

Pioneer Camp sits within McArthur-Burney Falls Memorial State Park, home to the stunning 129-foot Burney Falls that Theodore Roosevelt once called the eighth wonder of the world. The campground features a mix of tent sites and 22 rustic one- and two-bedroom cabins. Each campsite includes a paved parking spur, picnic table, fire ring with grill, and a food storage locker. The cabins are heated by propane but have no electricity or running water. The campground offers modern conveniences including flush toilets, hot water showers, potable water, trash collection, and a dump station for RVs. A camp store is available within walking distance of all sites. The Pioneer Cemetery Trail begins near campsite #75, following a historic wagon trail to an old cemetery. Vehicles over 32 feet cannot be accommodated in the park. The park is located six miles north of Highway 299 on Highway 89 near Burney. Dogs are allowed in the campgrounds but not on trails or day-use areas. Weekend and holiday visitors from mid-May through late September must make day-use reservations in addition to camping reservations.

Directions

From Redding, take Highway 299 east approximately 55 miles to Highway 89. Turn left (north) on Highway 89 and drive 6 miles to the park entrance on the left.
