About

Dusty Campground sits on the north shore of Lake Britton, roughly in the middle of the lake where the Pit River feeds in. This small PG&E-operated campground on Lassen National Forest land offers approximately 6-7 sites, each positioned directly on the water under a canopy of oaks and pines. The intimate setting makes it a good choice for anglers and paddlers seeking lakeside camping without crowds. Amenities are basic: vault toilets, fire rings, and picnic tables at each site. There is no potable water, so campers must bring their own supply. The campground can accommodate trailers up to 35 feet. Lake Britton offers fishing for bass, trout, crappie, and bluegill, along with swimming and waterskiing. McArthur-Burney Falls Memorial State Park is nearby for additional hiking and sightseeing. The campground operates seasonally from late May through October on a first-come, first-served basis. Access is via Eagle Mountain Lane off Highway 89, just north of the Lake Britton bridge.

Directions

From Burney, take Highway 299 west to Highway 89. Turn left (north) on Highway 89 and continue past McArthur-Burney Falls Memorial State Park. Cross the bridge over Lake Britton and take the first right onto Eagle Mountain Lane to reach Dusty Campground.
