About

Pit River Campground is a Bureau of Land Management facility located along the scenic Pit River near Fall River Mills in eastern Shasta County, California. This small, intimate campground features eight campsites ranging from 40 to 60 feet in length and 16 to 20 feet wide, including one group site. Each site is equipped with a picnic table, metal fire ring, and barbeque pit. The campground operates on a first-come, first-served basis with fees of $8 per night for individual sites and $12 per night for the group site, while day use is free. The recreation area provides wheelchair accessible amenities including two vault restrooms, a fishing pier, and a kayak launch ramp for river access. A camp host resides on site during the operating season, and trash removal service is provided. Most campsites are designed to accommodate trailers up to 32 feet and one vehicle. Campers must bring their own water as there is no potable water available on site. The campground's riverside location offers excellent fishing and kayaking opportunities on the Pit River. Nearby attractions include golfing in Fall River Mills, McArthur-Burney Falls State Park, campgrounds at Lake Britton, Rising River campground near Cassel, and boat-in access to Ahjumawi Lava Spring State Park. The area provides a peaceful setting for those seeking a more primitive camping experience with convenient access to regional recreation opportunities.
