About

Deadlun Campground offers a rustic camping experience at Iron Canyon Reservoir in the Shasta-Trinity National Forest. The 500-acre reservoir features 15 miles of forested shoreline at an elevation of 2,696 feet. The campground has 30 sites, each equipped with a picnic table and fire ring, spread throughout a forested setting near the water. This is a primitive, no-fee campground operating on a first-come first-served basis year-round. Vault toilets are available but there is no potable water; campers should bring their own supply or filter water from nearby sources. The maximum recommended RV length is 24 feet due to site constraints. The area is a hub for outdoor recreation. Powerboats, rowboats, canoes, sailboats, and inflatable boats are permitted on the reservoir, though speedboats and water-skiing are prohibited. A boat ramp is available at nearby Hawkins Landing, operated by PG&E. For off-highway vehicle enthusiasts, a network of primitive roads and jeep trails extends from the reservoir toward Lake McCloud and Shasta Lake, offering challenging routes suited for high-clearance and 4WD vehicles.
