Moore Creek Campground is located on the McCloud Arm of Shasta Lake at approximately 1,067 feet elevation within the Shasta-Trinity National Forest. The campground offers a partially shaded setting suitable for both tent camping and smaller RVs. Operated by Shasta Recreation Company under Forest Service concession, Moore Creek functions primarily as a group campground with capacity for up to 90 people, though single-site family camping is available on an overflow basis. All campsites are equipped with picnic tables, fire rings, tent pads, bear boxes for food storage, and paved parking spurs. Vault toilets and drinking water are provided on-site. The campground offers easy access to water recreation on Shasta Lake, with the public boat ramp at Hirz Bay located 4 miles away. Anglers can pursue trout, bass, catfish, Chinook salmon, crappie, and bluegill. The nearby Hirz Mountain Lookout provides panoramic views of Mt. Shasta and Mt. Lassen at 3,500 feet elevation. Campers should be aware that bears frequent the area and all food must be stored in bear-proof containers. Poison oak is abundant. Only locally-sourced firewood should be used. Amplified sound is prohibited. Check-in is at 3:00 PM with checkout at noon.

Directions

From I-5, take exit 698 (Salt Creek/Gilman Road). Turn right at the end of the off ramp and follow Gilman Road east approximately 20 miles to the campground entrance.
