About

Hirz Bay Group 1 Campground sits on the McCloud Arm of Shasta Lake in a forest of oak and manzanita, offering an ideal setting for large groups of up to 120 people. The facility features two large pedestal grills, one large fire ring, two sinks with faucets, and a paved parking lot with 21 spaces that is separate from the sleeping and camping area. Vault toilets and drinking water from faucets are provided on-site. The campground provides easy access to a variety of recreational activities. The Hirz Bay boat ramp is located approximately 1 mile away, offering access to Shasta Lake's 365 miles of shoreline for power and non-motorized boating, water skiing, and fishing for trout, catfish, Chinook salmon, crappie, bluegill, white sturgeon, brown bullhead, and bass. The 2-mile Hirz Bay Trail begins near the campground for hikers to explore. Shasta Lake sits at an elevation of 1,067 feet, surrounded by steep mountains blanketed in manzanita and evergreens, with Mount Shasta visible in the distance. Reservation holders must contact the Shasta Recreation Office at least one week prior to arrival for a combination code to access the campground. The site is located within the Shasta-Trinity National Forest, the largest national forest in California.
