Dekkas Rock

Dekkas Rock Group Campground sits on the McCloud Arm of Lake Shasta within the Shasta-Trinity National Forest. The single group site accommodates up to 60 people and 18 vehicles, with additional overflow parking for boat trailers. Amenities include 8 large picnic tables, 2 campfire rings, 2 large pedestal grills, a family barbecue grill, vault toilets, potable water, and bear-proof food lockers. The campground provides direct access to Lake Shasta's excellent fishing for trout, bass, catfish, salmon, and other species. The Hirz Bay public boat ramp is nearby for both motorized and non-motorized watercraft. Hikers can access the 1-mile Hirz Bay Trail directly from camp. Note that lake levels drop as summer progresses, so sites may not remain immediately adjacent to the water. Reservations are required and can be made through Recreation.gov. Groups must contact the Shasta Recreation Company office at least one week prior to arrival to obtain the gate combination code. No amplified music is permitted.

Directions

From I-5, exit at Gilman Road/Salt Creek Road. Southbound traffic: turn left onto Salt Creek Road, then second left onto Gilman Road. Northbound traffic: turn right onto Gilman Road. Follow Gilman Road 10 miles east to Dekkas Rock Group Campground.
