About

Hirz Bay Campground is perched on a scenic hilltop among manzanita and oak trees, offering views of the McCloud Arm of Shasta Lake within the Shasta-Trinity National Forest. The campground provides 46 sites with paved parking spurs, picnic tables, fire rings, and bear-proof food lockers. Flush toilets and a pay phone are available on site. The location is ideal for water recreation, with the Hirz Bay boat ramp about 1 mile away. Shasta Lake offers excellent fishing for trout, catfish, Chinook salmon, crappie, bluegill, bass, and white sturgeon. Power boating, water skiing, and swimming are popular activities. Hikers can access the 2-mile Hirz Bay Trail directly from the campground. Nearby attractions include the Hirz Mountain Lookout at 3,500 feet with panoramic views of Mt. Shasta and Mt. Lassen, and the Lake Shasta Caverns on the McCloud Arm. Campers should be aware of active bears in the area and store all food in the provided bear lockers. Poison oak is abundant.
