Dekkas Rock Group Campground occupies a prime location on the McCloud Arm of Lake Shasta in the Shasta-Trinity National Forest. The single group site can host up to 60 people and 18 vehicles, making it well-suited for family reunions, scout troops, or large group outings. The setting offers views of the mountainous shoreline and convenient access to the lake for boating and fishing. The campground provides 8 large picnic tables, 2 campfire rings, 2 large pedestal grills, and a family barbecue grill. Vault toilets and potable drinking water from faucets are available. Bear-proof food lockers are provided and required for all food storage. Four unpaved parking spurs serve the main site, with an additional 8-space overflow lot accommodating boat trailers. Reservations are required and available through Recreation.gov. Guests must contact Shasta Recreation Company at least one week before arrival to receive the gate combination code; failure to do so may result in being locked out. Check-in is at 3pm and checkout at noon. Amplified sound is prohibited, and campers should avoid transporting firewood to prevent pest spread.

Directions

Exit I-5 at Gilman Rd (exit 698). Southbound traffic: exit and turn left onto Salt Creek Road, then take the second left onto Gilman Road. Northbound traffic: turn right onto Gilman Road. Follow Gilman Road approximately 10-12 miles east to Dekkas Rock Group Campground.
