About

Hirz Bay Group 2 Campground sits along the scenic McCloud Arm of Shasta Lake, shaded by oak and manzanita within Shasta-Trinity National Forest. This group site accommodates up to 80 people and offers nine picnic tables, one large open fire ring, a large pedestal grill, two grate-type fireplaces, and two water hydrants. Vault toilets and bear-proof food storage lockers are provided. The 23-space paved parking area is located away from the sleeping and camping area. The Hirz Bay boat launch sits just half a mile from the campground, providing easy access for power boating, water skiing, and fishing. Lake Shasta offers excellent fishing for trout, catfish, Chinook salmon, crappie, bluegill, bass, and white sturgeon. Hikers can access the 2-mile Hirz Bay Trail near the campground. Nearby resorts offer watercraft rentals and marinas with fuel. Bears are active in the area, so proper food storage is required. Poison oak is abundant. Firewood must be purchased locally. Check-in is 3 PM and check-out is noon. Reservation holders must contact the Shasta Recreation Office at least one week prior to arrival to obtain the combination code for site access.
