Holman Flat Dispersed Area Campground

Closed — Closed for the winter season. Alpine Loop Road closed October 24, 2025, and typically reopens in late May or early June depending on snow conditions. Day use fees apply when open.

About

Holman Flat Dispersed Area is a primitive camping destination in the Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest, situated along a dirt forest road beyond Tibble Fork Reservoir. To reach the area, campers travel Alpine Loop Road from Cedar Hills, then turn onto UT-144N to Tibble Fork Reservoir. At the back of the reservoir, a right turn onto a dirt road leads another 1.4 miles to the dispersed camping area. As a dispersed camping area, Holman Flat offers a more remote and primitive experience compared to developed campgrounds. The area is located in high alpine terrain accessible via seasonal roads that close during winter months due to snow accumulation. Day use fees are required for the American Fork Canyon area, with digital passes available through Recreation.gov or payment by cash or check at fee stations. The location provides access to the Mount Timpanogos area and surrounding wilderness. Campers should come prepared for primitive conditions and practice Leave No Trace principles, as this is undeveloped forest land without facilities or services.

Directions

From Cedar Hills, take UT-92 E/Alpine Loop Road 5 miles. Turn left onto UT-144N and go another 2.5 miles to Tibble Fork Reservoir. At the back of the reservoir turn right onto the dirt road. Continue another 1.4 miles on the dirt road and the destination will be on the left.
