Holman Flat Dispersed Area Campground

Open

The dispersed area is accessible seasonally, typically late spring through fall depending on road and snow conditions. Forest Road 085 may be impassable during winter and early spring. A day use pass is required: $10 for 3 days, $20 for 7 days, or $60 for the season. Interagency Recreation Passes are honored.

About

Holman Flat Dispersed Area provides primitive camping opportunities in American Fork Canyon within the Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest. Situated beyond the popular Tibble Fork Reservoir, this dispersed camping zone offers a more secluded experience compared to the developed campgrounds lower in the canyon. Access requires a high-clearance or 4-wheel-drive vehicle, as the final 1.4 miles are on unpaved Forest Road 085. From Cedar Hill, take UT-92 E (Alpine Loop Road) for 5 miles, turn left onto UT-144N for 2.5 miles to Tibble Fork Reservoir, then continue past the reservoir on the dirt road. As a dispersed area, Holman Flat has no developed facilities. Campers must be self-sufficient, bringing their own water and packing out all trash. The area is popular with hikers accessing the nearby Holman Trail system.

Directions

From Cedar Hill, take UT-92 E (Alpine Loop Road) 5 miles. Turn left onto UT-144N and continue 2.5 miles to Tibble Fork Reservoir. At the back of the reservoir, turn right onto the dirt road (Forest Road 085). Continue 1.4 miles to the dispersed area on the left. High-clearance or 4WD vehicle recommended.
