About
McCloud Bridge Campground is located on the McCloud Arm of Shasta Lake within the Shasta-Trinity National Forest. This remote facility offers 14 campsites: 11 single sites and 3 double sites, all available on a first-come, first-served basis. The campground is situated 17 miles back on Gilman Road, providing a more secluded camping experience with no cell service.
Each site is equipped with a picnic table, bear locker for secure food storage, and a fire ring with a grill on top. The campground features vault toilets and drinking water spigots. Parking spurs average around 35 feet for back-in access. When Shasta Lake is at full pool, the campground sits directly on the water, offering excellent shore fishing opportunities. This location is particularly popular for its access to some of the best shore fishing at Shasta Lake, with species including rainbow trout, brown trout, largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, spotted bass, Chinook salmon, and various panfish.
The campground sits at an elevation of 1,067 feet on an old ranch site among fruit trees and native vegetation. Visitors must be physically present at the campground to purchase and claim a site, with payment options including the Recreation.gov Scan & Pay app, or cash/check at the iron ranger. Sites cannot be reserved in advance, and campers must occupy the site on the day of payment.
