Loggers Lake Campground

Located deep in the interior forests of Shannon County, Logger's Lake Campground occupies the southeast shore of a scenic 22-acre spring-fed lake. Constructed by the Civilian Conservation Corps Camp 1730 in the late 1930s, the lake maintains cooler temperatures thanks to multiple springs feeding the basin. A CCC memorial stands in the campground as a reminder of its history. The campground offers 14 single sites and one double site, all with lake views through light vegetation. Each site includes a fire ring, picnic table, and tent pad; some have lantern posts. Vault toilets and pressurized drinking water are centrally located. There are no hookups, making this a primitive camping experience. The lake is managed as a fishery with good populations of largemouth bass, sunfish, and channel catfish. Two boat ramps accommodate non-motorized and electric-motor watercraft. The day use area includes a small swim beach, barrier-free fishing pier, and grills. The 2.7-mile Loggers Lake Loop Trail circles the lake starting from the campground.

Directions

From Bunker at the junction of MO Highway A and Highway 72, go 1/4 mile west on Highway A to Dent Co Rd 565 (Lincoln Ave). Turn left and go south on 565 for 6 miles to FR 2193. Turn left on FR 2193 for 1 mile to Logger's Lake. High clearance vehicle recommended for the rough final section.
