About
Located conveniently off Highway 19, Sinking Creek Campground is a backcountry camping area within Ozark National Scenic Riverways that draws thousands of visitors each summer. The campground offers unique access to both Sinking Creek and the Current River, allowing swimmers to enjoy warm creek waters alongside the cooler river. A large gravel bar serves as a natural recreation hub for swimming, sunbathing, and floating activities.
The campground features 8 reservable backcountry sites with vault toilets but no water, showers, or hookups. Each site includes a fire ring, though campers must bring their own water. The location is particularly convenient for visitors, sitting just 20 minutes north of Eminence and requiring only a short 600-foot gravel road drive from Highway 19.
Nearby attractions include Round Spring and Echo Bluff, with several hiking trails passing through the area. RVs and trailers are permitted within campground regulations. As a backcountry campground, payment is now handled exclusively through the Scan & Pay system on the Recreation.gov mobile app, which should be set up in advance due to limited cell service.
