Shawnee Creek Campground sits at the scenic junction of Shawnee Creek and the Jacks Fork River, offering a blend of sunny and shaded sites perfect for families and river enthusiasts. This six-site backcountry campground provides a more primitive camping experience while maintaining convenient amenities like vault toilets. The shallow waters of Shawnee Creek are ideal for wading and exploration, particularly popular with children and their parents. A canoe launch provides direct river access for paddlers exploring the Jacks Fork. One of the campground's most unique features is the nearby field where wild horses are frequently spotted grazing or running, offering visitors a rare glimpse at this living cultural resource of the Ozark National Scenic Riverways. Access to the campground requires driving approximately two miles on gravel roads from Highway 106, about 12 minutes east of Eminence. The campground features vault toilets but no water, so visitors should bring adequate supplies. Reservations are required and can be made through Recreation.gov, with payment accepted via the Scan & Pay system on the Recreation.gov mobile app.

Directions

From Eminence, head east on Highway 106 for 3 miles. After crossing a bridge over Shawnee Creek, take the next left onto County Road 106-211. Follow this road for about 2 miles until it dead-ends at Shawnee Creek Campground. The route includes approximately 2 miles of gravel road.
