About

Powder Mill Campground is a no-frills backcountry camping area located along the Current River in Ozark National Scenic Riverways. Set in a large grass field, the campground offers a sunny, open environment with activities for any time of year. The Current River provides excellent opportunities for swimming, floating, and fishing, while great trails connect to both Blue Spring and the historic Owls Bend area, which is particularly beautiful in fall. The campground features 8 first-come, first-served sites with vault toilets but no water, making it ideal for self-sufficient campers seeking a more primitive experience. The Ozark Trail passes through the area, and Highway 106 makes exploration of the region straightforward. RVs and trailers are allowed as specified in park regulations, though amenities are minimal. Located 13.5 miles east of Eminence, Missouri, Powder Mill can be accessed by driving east on Highway 106, crossing the Current River bridge, and turning right onto the campground road. The campground's simple setup and riverside location make it a practical choice for paddlers, hikers, and campers comfortable with primitive conditions.

Directions

From Eminence, drive east on Highway 106 for roughly 13 miles. Cross the bridge over the Current River, then take the first right towards Powder Mill Campground. Drive down the side road until you reach a large grass field, which is the campground.
