Powder Mill Campground sits along Highway 106 about 13.5 miles east of Eminence, Missouri, within the Ozark National Scenic Riverways. This backcountry campground provides a quieter alternative to the park's developed campgrounds, offering 8 primitive sites in a large grassy field near the Current River. The campground features basic amenities typical of Ozark backcountry sites: vault toilets, picnic tables, fire rings, and lantern posts at each site. No potable water is available, so campers must bring their own supply. The location provides excellent access to the Current River for swimming, floating, and fishing, with hiking trails connecting to nearby Blue Spring and the scenic Owls Bend area, which is particularly beautiful during fall foliage season. Powder Mill operates year-round on a first-come, first-served basis. As of April 15, 2025, payment is handled exclusively through the Scan & Pay system on the Recreation.gov mobile app. Campers should download the app and set up an account before arriving, as cell service is limited in the park. The app works offline; payments process automatically when service is restored.

Directions

From Eminence, drive east on Highway 106 for approximately 13 miles. Cross the bridge over the Current River, then take the first right toward Powder Mill Campground on NPS Road 509. Continue down the side road until you reach the large grass field campground.
