About
Lily Lake Yurt is one of five backcountry yurts in the Lily Lake Touring Area, managed by the Bear River Outdoor Recreation Alliance (BRORA) in partnership with the USFS and the Boy Scouts of America. Located at 8,940 feet in Summit County within the Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest, the yurt provides a warm shelter for winter backcountry adventures in the High Uintas.
The yurt accommodates up to 8 people and is fully equipped with bunk beds, a wood stove for heating, a propane stove for cooking, propane, kitchen utensils, and pre-cut firewood. Guests must pack in their own food, water, and sleeping bags. Access requires a roughly 3-mile approach from the trailhead with approximately 554 feet of elevation gain.
Unlike some other yurts in the system, Lily Lake Yurt sits outside the non-motorized area, making it accessible by snowmobile in addition to skiing or snowshoeing. The surrounding area offers excellent cross-country skiing and snowmobiling terrain on the north slope of the Uinta Mountains.
Directions
The Lily Lake Yurt is accessed from a trailhead approximately 30 miles south of Evanston, Wyoming, on the north slope of the Uinta Mountains. The approach to the yurt is approximately 3 miles with 554 feet of elevation gain, accessible by ski, snowshoe, or snowmobile.
