About

Bear Claw Yurt sits at 8,700 feet elevation in the scenic Lily Lake area on the north slope of Utah's Uinta Mountains, managed by the Bear River Outdoor Recreation Alliance (BRORA) in partnership with the U.S. Forest Service. As part of a five-yurt system connected by groomed cross-country ski trails, Bear Claw provides a comfortable winter backcountry experience approximately 2 miles from the Lily Lake trailhead near Bear River Lodge on Highway 150. The yurt comes equipped with a propane stove for cooking, a wood-burning stove with firewood for heat, and basic kitchen utensils. Guests must bring their own sleeping bags, food, water, and other camping essentials. The surrounding area offers excellent opportunities for cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, and backcountry exploration in the Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest. Reservations are required and typically open in mid-October, filling quickly for the winter season. The yurt sleeps multiple guests and welcomes well-behaved dogs. Access during winter requires skis or snowshoes, making this an ideal destination for those seeking a groomed trail system combined with backcountry adventure.
