Bear River Campground is situated along the Bear River approximately 27 miles south of Evanston, Wyoming on the Mirror Lake Scenic Byway at an elevation of 8,400 feet. The campground features 4 single sites nestled among a thin forest of pine and aspen trees with summer wildflowers and grasses dotting the landscape. Each site accommodates up to 8 people and includes a picnic table and fire pit.
The Bear River flows through the campground providing fishing access, while the surrounding area offers abundant recreational opportunities within 5 miles including hiking, backpacking, mountain biking, and access to trails leading into the High Uintas Wilderness. The Mirror Lake Scenic Byway cuts through the Uinta Mountains and provides access to numerous high alpine lakes, streams, and breathtaking scenic viewpoints.
The campground operates seasonally, typically from late May through October, as the high elevation and Mirror Lake Scenic Byway close during winter months due to heavy snow accumulation. Reservations are available through Recreation.gov, with sites priced at $20 per night. Additional vehicles cost $10 for day-use parking, and trailhead overnight parking is $5 per vehicle. A 14-day stay limit applies.
