About

Bear River Campground sits at 8,400 feet elevation along the Bear River, about 27 miles south of Evanston, Wyoming on the Mirror Lake Scenic Byway. This small campground offers just 4 single sites nestled among a thin forest of pine and aspen trees that provide limited shade. Summer wildflowers and grasses dot the surrounding landscape. The campground provides direct river access for fishing and serves as a base for exploring the Uinta Mountains. Recreation activities within 5 miles include hiking, fishing, backpacking, and mountain biking. The High Uintas Wilderness can be accessed from several trails along the byway. This is a pack-it-in, pack-it-out facility in bear country. Campers must store food and trash properly; violations can result in fines up to $5,000. The campground has a 14-day stay limit, quiet hours from 10pm to 7am, and ATVs are not permitted on the highway unless licensed.
