East Fork Bear River Campground is nestled along the Bear River about 35 miles south of Evanston, Wyoming, just off the Mirror Lake Scenic Byway at an elevation of 8,400 feet. The byway cuts through the Uinta Mountains, known for their abundant recreational opportunities and scenic beauty. The campground offers 7 single campsites situated among a thin forest of pine and aspen trees that provide limited shade. Summer wildflowers and grasses dot the landscape along the river.
Each campsite includes a picnic table and fire ring, with vault restroom facilities available. The campground provides direct river access for fishing enthusiasts and serves as a gateway to numerous trails for hiking, backpacking, and mountain biking. The area requires a Mirror Lake Recreation Pass for all vehicles parked within the Mirror Lake Fee area. ATVs and horses are prohibited within the campground, though ATV trails are accessible nearby on designated routes.
Campers should come prepared with filled water tanks, as water is available by hand pump only during the operating season. The campground enforces quiet hours from 10 PM to 6 AM, with gates opening at 7 AM and closing at 10 PM. A 14-day stay limit applies, and sites accommodate a maximum of 8 people. Weekend stays require a 2-night minimum, with a 3-night minimum on holiday weekends.
Directions
From Evanston, Wyoming, travel south on Highway 150 for approximately 35 miles. Turn east onto Forest Road 121 and continue for about 0.5 miles to reach the campground.
