East Fork Bear River Campground

East Fork Bear River Campground occupies a scenic spot along the Bear River in the Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest at 8,400 feet elevation. Located about 35 miles south of Evanston, Wyoming on the Mirror Lake Scenic Byway, this small 7-site campground offers a quieter alternative to the larger facilities along the corridor. The campground sits right on the river, providing direct access to stream fishing for brook and cutthroat trout. The campground serves as an excellent base for exploring the surrounding High Uintas Wilderness and nearby trails. Popular activities include hiking, backpacking, mountain biking, and wildlife viewing. Each of the seven standard non-electric sites includes a picnic table and fire ring. Vault toilets are available during the operating season, and potable water can be obtained from a hand pump. This is a pack-it-in, pack-it-out facility. A Mirror Lake Recreation Pass is required for all vehicles parked within the Mirror Lake Fee Area. The campground operates seasonally from late May through early fall, weather permitting. Reservations are available through Recreation.gov with a 5-day advance requirement, though some sites may be first-come, first-served.

Directions

From Evanston, Wyoming, head south on Highway 150 (Mirror Lake Scenic Byway) for approximately 35 miles. The campground is located just off the highway along the Bear River.
