Closed for the season. The yurt operates December 1 through April 30. Reservations for the next winter/spring season typically open the last Monday of October and fill quickly.

About

East Fork Yurt sits at 8,500 feet elevation in the heart of Utah's Uinta Mountains, overlooking a large meadow below Dead Man's Pass with dramatic views of Mount Beulah to the southeast. The yurt is reached via a 2-mile non-motorized trail from the Lily Lake Ski Area trailhead, gaining about 190 feet in elevation along the East Fork Bench. The relatively easy trail makes it suitable for hauling gear by sled. The yurt sleeps up to 8 people on three double bunk beds, though 6 is recommended for comfort. BRORA provides ample firewood for the wood stove, full kitchen supplies including pots, pans, and utensils, and cleaning supplies. A USB outlet is available for device charging. Guests should bring their own quality sleeping pads, food including cooking staples like oil and spices, water filter or sufficient drinking water, and appropriate layers for cold weather. Water can be filtered from the East Fork Bear River approximately 200 feet away, carried in, or melted from snow. There is no trash service; all waste must be packed out. Dogs are welcome and may be off-leash on the trails.

Directions

From Evanston, Wyoming, head south approximately 30 miles on the Mirror Lake Highway (Highway 150) to the Lily Lake Ski Area trailhead at the winter gate. The yurt is accessed via a 2-mile non-motorized trail along the East Fork Bench.
