About

East Fork Bear River Campground is a small, scenic campground nestled along the Bear River in the Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest, approximately 35 miles south of Evanston, Wyoming. Located just off the Mirror Lake Scenic Byway at 8,400 feet elevation, the campground sits among a thin forest of pine and aspen trees that provide limited shade, with summer wildflowers and grasses dotting the landscape. The campground features 7 single campsites, each equipped with a fire ring and picnic table. Vault toilets are available, and potable water is accessible via hand pump. This is a pack-it-out facility with no dumpsters provided. Sites accommodate vehicles up to 25 feet with back-in driveways only. No hookups are available. The Bear River provides direct access for fishing, and the area offers excellent opportunities for hiking, backpacking, mountain biking, and ATV riding. The campground operates seasonally, typically opening in late May or early June depending on snow conditions. Reservations are available through Recreation.gov with a minimum 5-day advance booking requirement. Be aware this is bear country with strict food storage requirements.
