About

Rocky Campground is a developed campground located along scenic Hat Creek in the Lassen National Forest, approximately 3.5 miles north of Old Station on Highway 89. The campground provides a peaceful setting among mixed conifer forest with convenient access to one of the area's premier trout fishing streams. Each campsite is equipped with a fire ring and picnic table, making it suitable for traditional tent camping and smaller RVs. The facility operates on a first-come, first-served basis during its April through October season. Campers should be prepared to bring their own drinking water, as no potable water is available on-site. Vault toilets serve the campground. The tight turnaround makes this campground less suitable for trailers. A 14-day stay limit applies, and campfires are permitted only in designated fire rings. Rocky Campground provides access to excellent stream fishing in Hat Creek and serves as a convenient base for exploring the surrounding Hat Creek Recreation Area. The campground's location offers proximity to other attractions including the Spatter Cones Trail and Subway Cave lava tube. Interagency Senior and Access pass holders receive a 50% discount on camping fees.
