About
Rocky Campground offers a classic Pacific Northwest camping experience along the banks of Hat Creek in Lassen National Forest. Located approximately 3.5 miles north of Old Station on Highway 89, the campground sits in a mixed conifer forest at around 4,390 feet elevation. Pine needles, grasses, and volcanic rocks cover the forest floor, creating a natural and scenic setting. The campground provides basic amenities including vault toilets, fire rings, and barbecue grills at each site. Sites are widely spaced to offer privacy and a peaceful camping experience. No potable water is available on-site, so campers must bring an adequate supply. The campground operates on a first-come, first-served basis. Hat Creek provides opportunities for fishing, and the surrounding Lassen National Forest offers hiking and exploration. Note that the turnaround is tight and not recommended for trailers.
