About

Devils Canyon Campground occupies a scenic position at 7,400 feet elevation in the Abajo Mountains of southeastern Utah. The 42 single-family sites are spread across North and South loops, each with paved parking spurs, a picnic table, and fire ring. Ponderosa pines, pinyon pines, and junipers provide limited shade throughout the campground. Summer days are warm while evenings cool significantly at this elevation. The campground operates seasonally from April through September 30. Drinking water is available from a hand pump June through September only; outside this window, campers must bring their own water. Vault toilets are provided year-round. Firewood availability is limited, and campers are encouraged not to transport firewood to prevent pest spread. Sites 1-5 and 8-16 feature paved areas around amenities for accessibility. The location offers excellent access to southeastern Utah attractions. Canyonlands, Arches, and Mesa Verde National Parks are all within reasonable driving distance, as are Dark Canyon Wilderness and Edge of the Cedars State Park in Blanding. The Abajo Loop State Scenic Backway passes directly by the campground, climbing from desert floor to peaks over 10,000 feet with panoramic overlooks. Note that this byway is not recommended for large RVs.

Directions

Located 13 miles south of Monticello, Utah and 9 miles north of Blanding, Utah on US Highway 191. The campground is approximately 1/4 mile off the highway.
