About
Creek Pasture Campground is located in the Indian Creek area of Bears Ears National Monument, a region that has gained international recognition for extraordinary natural beauty and world-class rock climbing. The campground provides 32 individual campsites along the banks of Indian Creek, where cottonwood trees line the creek bed and a small sandstone cliff borders the west side of the campground. Each site accommodates up to 10 people and 2 vehicles, featuring a tent/trailer space, picnic table, and fire ring.
The Indian Creek canyon opens to a broad valley rimmed by massive Wingate Sandstone cliffs, with prominent geologic features including Lavender Mesa, Bridger Jack Mesa, and North and South Six Shooter Peaks. The campground sits approximately 5 miles southeast of Canyonlands National Park's Needles District and 15 miles northwest of Newspaper Rock, making it an ideal basecamp for exploring the region's spectacular red rock landscapes, ancient archaeological sites, and extensive network of climbing routes.
The Indian Creek area is generally primitive and undeveloped with few services. Creek flow is intermittent, and the creek bed is typically dry except during spring runoff or immediately after precipitation. Campers must bring all drinking water and be prepared for self-sufficient desert camping in a remote setting.
Directions
Turn west off U.S. Route 191 onto Utah State Route 211 and travel approximately 27.2 miles. Turn north onto County Road 2382. The campground is located 0.4 miles down the natural surface road.
