About
Located approximately 4.5 miles west of Monticello, Dalton Springs Campground sits at 8,200 feet elevation in a scenic aspen and gambel oak grove within the Manti-La Sal National Forest. The campground features 16 first-come, first-served campsites that offer a peaceful mountain setting with moderate usage levels. The surrounding area provides diverse recreation opportunities with multiple trails and roads nearby suitable for biking, hiking, motorized activities, and equestrian use. Wildlife viewing is common, with mule deer, black bears, and other species frequently spotted in the area. The campground serves as an excellent base camp for exploring southeastern Utah's attractions, including Newspaper Rock, the Needles District of Canyonlands National Park, and the Edge of the Cedars State Park Museum. Each campsite includes a picnic table and fire ring. The campground provides vault toilets and potable water during the operating season. Sites are priced at $20 per night, with a 50% discount available for Interagency Senior and Access pass holders. Payment is accepted by cash or check.
Directions
From Monticello, turn west onto 200 West/Abajo Drive/County Road 101/Forest Service Road 49 and continue for approximately 4.5 miles. The campground will be on your left.
