About

Desert View Campground occupies a scenic location on the South Rim of Grand Canyon National Park at 7,463 feet elevation, 23 miles east of Grand Canyon Village near the park's East Entrance. The campground features 50 sites beneath a canopy of pinyon and juniper trees that provide ample shade. Positioned less than half a mile from the canyon rim, campers enjoy convenient access to some of the widest views of the Grand Canyon and Painted Desert. The campground accommodates tents and smaller RVs or vehicles with travel trailers, with a strict 30-foot maximum length measured from front bumper to rear bumper. Some sites can only accommodate vehicles under 19 feet. Each site includes a picnic table and fire ring with cooking grill. Two water faucets serve the campground, and restrooms with flush toilets and cold water sinks are centrally located. Nearby attractions include the historic Mary Colter-designed Desert View Watchtower, Tusayan Ruin and Museum showcasing 800-year-old Ancestral Puebloan heritage, and numerous viewpoints along Desert View Drive. Wildlife viewing opportunities abound, with elk, mule deer, coyotes, and the endangered California condor frequently spotted in the area. A general store and gas station with limited groceries and firewood are located in the Desert View settlement.
