North Rim Campground reservations for the 2026 season will not be released at this time. Further damage assessments from the Dragon Bravo Fire this past summer must be conducted to determine if the campground will reopen for 2026.

Saddle Mountain Wilderness, most of House Rock Valley within the North Kaibab Ranger District and some roads in the White Sage Fire footprint will remain closed due to ongoing flooding risk and other hazards.

Fire crews on the Kaibab National Forest plan to conduct approximately 200 acres of prescribed pile burning north of I-40 in the vicinity of Parks today, December 29th, through Wednesday, December 31st.
Winter 2025/2026 pile burns on the Kaibab NF
The Kaibab National Forest is planning prescribed fire pile burns on up to approximately 9,000 acres on the Williams and Tusayan ranger districts and approximately 1,100 acres on the North Kaibab Ranger District, pending all required approvals.
State Route 67 closes on December 8 at Jacob Lake - North Kaibab Ranger District

Effective Oct 8, 2025 - UPDATED - White Sage & Dragon Bravo Fires Temporary Area Closure
On Wednesday, October 8, 2025, the Kaibab National Forest will once again reduce the forest closure, reopening just over 7,000 additional acres of forest lands west of Highway 67 in the Murray Lake area where the Dragon Bravo Fire Incident Command Post was located.
Forest Road 354 on Kaibab & Prescott NF Temporarily Closed for Repairs
National Forest System Road (NFSR) 354 is closed for public safety due to flood damage and washed-out sections of the road, which lies on portions of the Prescott and Kaibab National Forests.
Firewood permits available 4/1 for Williams & Tusayan RDs, 5/1 for North Kaibab RD
Fuelwood permits will be available on April 1, 2025, for the Williams and Tusayan Ranger Districts, and on May 1, 2025, for the North Kaibab Ranger District. Permit sales and firewood collection will run through December 31, 2025.

* Effective October 31, 2025, Grand Canyon National Park is under Stage 2 Fire Restrictions. * **Wood burning and charcoal fires, including campfires, warming fires, and charcoal barbeques are prohibited (not allowed)**. The use of liquid petroleum or LPG fueled devices that can be turned on and off, such as stoves, lanterns, or heating devices are allowed if used in an area that is barren or cleared of all flammable materials within 3 feet of the device. * **Outdoor smoking is prohibited**; smoking is only permitted in an enclosed vehicle. * **Explosives or any incendiary device are prohibited; fireworks are always prohibited on public lands.**

**Effective Friday, October 31, 2025, Stage 3 Water Restrictions are in place which may affect your stay at Mather Campground**. This may limit campground services such as water spigots being turned off and the laundry/shower facility next to Mather Campground being closed; however, restrooms will remain open. Please ensure you are prepared with plenty of water upon your arrival. Drinking water is available for purchase at the nearby Grand Canyon Village Market.

**Mather Campground winter operations in effect 12/01/2025 through 2/28/2026. **Only Pine and Sage Loops are open. Generators allowed in both loops during generator hours only (7am to 9am and 6pm to 8pm). Water spigots throughout campground are off. **During winter operations, all sites are Reservation only. Reservations can be made on **[**Recreation.gov**][1]** or in-person at the kiosk. ** **Advanced reservations for peak season (3/01/2026 through 11/30/2026) are strongly recommended.** Reservations are available 6 months in advance. * There will be 20 First-Come-First-Served (FF) sites available during peak season only; FF sites are sold in-person at the campground kiosk for one night at a time.
