About

Whiting Campground is nestled in Maple Canyon within the Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest at 5,400 feet elevation. The campground features a pleasant setting beneath a dense canopy of maple and cottonwood trees that provide ample shade in summer and spectacular fall color. A perennial creek runs through the area, adding to the scenic atmosphere. The campground offers 27 sites total: 23 standard single-family sites with cement pads, 3 equestrian sites with hitching racks, and 2 group sites accommodating 100 and 200 people respectively. Each site has a picnic table and fire ring. Vault toilets are available, but there is no potable water on-site so campers must bring their own. Firewood is available for purchase. Maple Canyon Trail begins nearby, providing access to hiking, mountain biking, dirt biking, and horseback riding. The trail network offers scenic mountain and canyon views. Note that horse trailers must be parked about 1 mile from the campground. Gates are open 7am to 10pm with quiet hours from 10pm to 6am.

Directions

From I-15, take Springville exit 260. Head east 2 miles to the intersection of Main Street and 400 South. Turn right on Main Street, staying in the right lane toward Highway 89/Price. Continue 2.3 miles to Maple Street. Turn left on Maple Street/State Highway 147 for 0.9 miles to Main Street in Mapleton. Turn left on Main Street, then right on 400 North. Drive east on 400 North for 2.7 miles to the campground.
