Bingo Brook Campground

Open — Open year-round with no reservations or fees required. Winter access is not plowed and may be difficult or impossible depending on snow conditions.

Special Weather Statement issued December 29 at 1:04PM EST by NWS Burlington VT

December 29th, 1:04 PM — 1:00 AM

Temperatures will quickly drop below freezing this afternoon and evening. This will lead to any untreated surfaces quickly freezing. Sacttered snow showers could quickly coat roads. Use caution if driving or walking. Increasing winds this afternoon and evening could cause isolated power outages due to lingering ice loading on trees and powerlines. Wind chills below zero tonight will affect anyone still without power or outside.

About

Bingo Brook Campground is a primitive dispersed camping area located along Forest Road 42 in the Green Mountain National Forest's Rochester Ranger District. The campground features 10 designated campsites spread along Bingo Brook, a mountain stream that provides a scenic backdrop for camping. Sites are situated in a northern hardwoods forest with some shaded and some sunny areas, offering easy access to the brook for wading and cooling off. This is a true backcountry experience with minimal amenities. The campground operates on a first-come, first-served basis with no reservations required. There are no fees to camp here. A basic pit toilet is available, but there is no potable water or trash service. Campers must treat or filter water from the brook and pack out all trash. Cell phone service is not available. Access is via Vermont Route 73 to Forest Road 42 near Rochester. The road is not plowed in winter, making the campground difficult to access during snow season, though it remains officially open year-round. This campground is best suited for tent camping and smaller vehicles; it is not recommended for RVs or large trailers due to the forest road conditions and primitive site design.
