About

Box Elder Campground is located in a scenic mountain valley adjacent to the town of Mantua and about one mile from Mantua Reservoir. Managed by the Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest with operations by Utah Recreation Company, the campground offers 29 single-family sites and 4 group sites. A dense forest of bottomland hardwoods provides full shade at most sites, and Box Elder Creek flows gently through the grounds. Facilities include flush restrooms and potable water. Sites accommodate tents, RVs, and trailers up to 40 feet on gravel driveways with back-in access. The campground operates seasonally from late April through early October, with reservations through Recreation.gov. Some sites remain first-come, first-served. Mantua Reservoir is just one mile away, offering fishing, boating, canoeing, and swimming. Horseback riding and hiking on local trails are also popular activities. The Bear River Migratory Bird Refuge, with nearly 80,000 acres of marsh and wetlands, is nearby and features a 12-mile auto tour route for wildlife viewing.
