About

Pioneer Campground sits on the banks of the Blacksmith Fork River in a narrow canyon about 9 miles east of Hyrum, Utah. At 5,600 feet elevation, the 17 single sites are nicely spaced and shaded by black willow and box elder trees, offering good privacy for a small forest service campground. Each site accommodates up to 8 people with one vehicle and includes a picnic table and fire ring. Vault toilets and potable water are available. The campground operates on a first-come, first-served basis with a 7-day stay limit. Extra vehicles cost $10 per day payable on-site. The Blacksmith Fork River provides fishing opportunities directly from camp. Mountain bikers can follow Forest Road 245 to reach the Great Western Trail near Blacksmith Fork Guard Station. The surrounding rugged hills offer scenic drives and hiking with good wildlife viewing. The Logan Canyon National Scenic Byway is nearby.
