About
Lookout Campground occupies a sunny, open meadow on the northeastern shore of Blue River Reservoir along the West Cascades National Scenic Byway. Unlike traditional campgrounds with numbered sites, Lookout offers roughly 20 undesignated camping areas where visitors can choose their spot. Some locations have picnic tables and fire rings while others are more primitive, appealing to campers who prefer a less structured experience. The campground provides vault toilets and potable drinking water via a hand pump. A paved boat launch and floating dock give access to Blue River Reservoir for fishing, swimming, waterskiing, and boating. Note that late summer through mid-March often sees reservoir drawdowns that make motorized boat launching unavailable, though kayaks and rafts can still access the water. Nearby trails include Buck Mountain Trail and Lookout Creek Old Growth Trail. Firewood is available for purchase on site and a camp host is present during the operating season. The campground road and parking are gravel. Maximum trailer length is 40 feet, and dogs must remain on a leash no longer than 6 feet. Camping is limited to 14 consecutive days within any 60-day period.
