About
Old Miner's Meadow Group Use Area is a two-acre fenced meadow managed by the BLM, situated along the Quartzville Creek National Wild and Scenic River in Oregon's Cascade foothills. The site offers a mix of shaded and sunny areas within its enclosed boundary, making it suitable for large gatherings, family reunions, or organized group camping. The area lies upstream from Green Peter Reservoir and about one mile past Yellowbottom Recreation Site along the Quartzville Back Country Byway. The campground provides picnic tables, individual campfire rings, a large group campfire ring with grill, horseshoe pits, vault toilets located just outside the fence boundary, and trash collection. Groups must bring their own drinking water and firewood. There is no cell phone reception at the site. Access requires entering through a locked gate using a combination code provided in the reservation confirmation email; groups are responsible for locking the gate upon departure. The surrounding area offers excellent recreation including gold panning in Quartzville Creek, kayaking, fishing in the creek and reservoir, swimming, and scenic drives along the byway. Deep pools, waterfalls, and old-growth groves are a short drive away.
