Old Miner's Meadow Group Use Area

About
Old Miner's Meadow Group Use Area is a two-acre, fenced-in group campsite located in an open meadow dotted with trees along the Quartzville Creek National Wild and Scenic River. The site sits upstream from the emerald-colored Green Peter Reservoir and offers both shaded and sunny areas within the meadow setting. The location provides direct access to Quartzville Creek, which is popular for gold panning, kayaking, and exploring deep pools and waterfalls along its length. The campground is managed by the Bureau of Land Management and is available exclusively by reservation through Recreation.gov. Located along the Quartzville Back Country Byway, the site provides easy access to scenic drives, hiking trails in nearby Willamette National Forest, and recreation opportunities on Green Peter Reservoir including fishing, swimming, sailing, and water skiing. Recreational mining is permitted along the creek, and dispersed camping is available elsewhere along the byway corridor starting at milepost 17.2. The area features both developed and undeveloped recreation sites along the scenic byway, which meanders through old-growth forest groves. Wildlife including elk frequent the surrounding forests. Summer weather is comfortable but nights can be cool at this elevation, so visitors should be prepared for temperature variations.
