About

Woodson Bridge State Recreation Area Group Campground sits nestled in oak woods flanking the Sacramento River in northern California's Central Valley. The park encompasses 324 acres of riparian habitat that serves as a haven for anglers and bird watchers alike. Fishing enthusiasts travel from across the region to pursue runs of king salmon, steelhead, striped bass, catfish, and bluegill in the Sacramento River. The group camping area can accommodate up to 40 people and is located on the east shore of the river alongside 37 family campsites. The park's location on the main flyway between Mexico and Canada makes it exceptional for birding, with opportunities to observe geese, ducks, herons, quail, owls, hawks, falcons, pheasants, and many other species. The lush campground features restrooms with flush toilets and provides a peaceful base camp for outdoor recreation. Across the river lies the 260-acre Woodson Bridge Natural Preserve, a representative riparian ecosystem home to Bald Eagles and the Yellow-billed Cuckoo among the oaks, cottonwoods, and sycamores. The park offers over a mile of hiking trails to explore and is adjacent to Tehama County River Park with its boat launch. Located just 6 miles east of Corning, the park is easily accessible from Interstate 5 or Highway 99.
