Camp Discovery Group Campground sits within the Red Bluff Recreation Area, a 488-acre oasis along the Sacramento River just two miles from Red Bluff. This reservation-only group facility accommodates 1 to 100 guests and features 11 screened sleeping cabins with plywood bunks, requiring campers to bring their own bedding. The campground includes modern amenities such as showers, dishwashing facilities, vault toilets, an amphitheater, secure storage areas, lighting, and four large grills. Two covered cabanas provide shaded gathering spaces with picnic tables and preparation areas. Additional tent camping is available under a canopy of mature Sycamore, Oak, and Cottonwood trees.
The surrounding Red Bluff Recreation Area offers diverse recreational opportunities, including 4.2 miles of paved nature trails winding through flowering grasslands, wetlands, and oak woodlands. The trails provide wildlife viewing opportunities and panoramic views of Mount Shasta, Mount Lassen, and the Yolla Bolly Mountains. The nearby Sacramento River, less than a five-minute walk away, offers fishing for Chinook, Steelhead, and Striped Bass, along with boating, water skiing, jet skiing, and swimming. The area also features a boat ramp and the Sacramento River Discovery Center. The campground includes an electronic gate that closes daily at 10:00 p.m. and opens at 6:00 a.m., with the gate code provided upon reservation confirmation.
Directions
From I-5, take Exit 648 for Lassen Highway 36 (Antelope Boulevard) and turn east. Turn right (south) at Sale Lane at the first light. Follow Sale Lane about 2 miles to the Red Bluff Recreation Area entrance. Proceed through the gate and turn left at the Sacramento River Discovery Center. Follow the road to the large parking lot by the river. Camp Discovery is to the left through a gate across the road.
