Camp Discovery Group Camp is a unique group camping facility located in the Red Bluff Recreation Area of Mendocino National Forest, just two miles from the town of Red Bluff, California. The campground features 11 screened sleeping cabins along with traditional tent camping areas beneath a small conifer forest with mature Sycamore, Oak, and Cottonwood shade trees. Amenities include showers, dishwashing facilities, vault toilets, an amphitheater, two cabanas with picnic tables, preparation tables, secure storage areas, lighting, and four large grills. The Sacramento River is a short walk away, providing opportunities for fishing, boating, water skiing, jet skiing, swimming, and canoeing. Species such as Chinook salmon, Steelhead, and Striped Bass can be found in the river. The area also features a 4-mile paved nature trail winding through flowering grasslands, wetlands, and oak woodlands with views of Mount Shasta, Mount Lassen, and the Yolla Bolly Mountains. The campground operates year-round and is reservation-only through Recreation.gov. Check-in is at 2:00 p.m. and check-out is at 11:00 a.m. The electronic gate closes at 10:00 p.m. and opens at 6:00 a.m., with a gate code provided in the reservation confirmation. Maximum consecutive stay is 14 days, after which guests must leave for at least 16 days before returning.

Directions

From I-5, take Exit 648 (Antelope Boulevard/Highway 36) toward Lassen and turn east. Turn right (south) at Sale Lane at the first light. Follow Sale Lane about 2 miles to the Red Bluff Recreation Area. Proceed through the gate and turn left at the Sacramento River Discovery Center. Follow the road to the large parking lot by the river. Camp Discovery is to the left through a gate across the road.
