About
Woodcock Lake Park is operated by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Woodcock Creek Lake in Crawford County, Pennsylvania. Set among rolling hills and beautiful woodlands, the park surrounds a 333-acre lake in the tranquil rural countryside of northwest Pennsylvania. The campground previously featured 111 primitive campsites without electric, water, or sewage hookups at $18 per night, operating on a first-come, first-served basis.
While the campground is currently closed to camping, the park's extensive day-use areas remain open to the public. Recreational opportunities include walking and hiking trails, a swimming beach, canoeing and kayaking on the lake (20hp motor limit), fishing both in the lake and in the stocked outflow stream, walking across the 1-mile dam crest, an 18-hole disc golf course, and a playground. Four picnic shelters are available for $35 per day reservation or first-come, first-served at no charge, each accommodating up to 40 people with nearby paved parking.
The park is managed in partnership with the Crawford County Conservation District, which oversees Stainbrook Park below the dam with interpretive programs and facilities, and the Pennsylvania Game Commission, which manages Game Lands #435 for hunting and wildlife viewing. The park is easily accessible from I-79 and is convenient to nearby communities including Meadville, Sagertown, Cambridge Springs, and Erie.
Directions
From I-79, take Exit 154 and proceed east on Route 198 for 7 miles through Saegertown to Woodcock Creek Lake Dam. The Overlook Recreation Area and picnic shelter are approximately 1/4 mile past the dam on the right.
