Woodcock Creek Lake Park & Campground

Closed

The campground is closed for overnight camping. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has been seeking a lessee to operate the campground since 2020 but has not secured an operator. Day-use areas including the swim beach, boat ramp, hiking trails, and picnic shelters remain open.

About

Woodcock Lake Park Campground sits along the shores of Woodcock Creek Lake, a 333-acre flood control reservoir built by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in 1973 in Crawford County, Pennsylvania. The lake and surrounding parklands offer a peaceful rural retreat north of Meadville, with rolling hills and abundant wildlife in the tranquil northwest Pennsylvania countryside. The campground historically featured 111 primitive tent and RV sites without hookups, operating on a first-come, first-served basis from Memorial Day through Labor Day weekend. Facilities included shower houses, restrooms, a swim beach, boat ramp (20hp motor limit on the lake), hiking trails, and picnic areas. Crawford County operated the campground under a no-cost lease from 1973 until January 2020, when the county ended the agreement due to operating losses. Since the county's departure, the Corps has been seeking a new private operator through leasing opportunities. Day-use recreation remains available at the lake, including swimming, fishing, boating, hiking trails, an 18-hole disc golf course, and reservable picnic shelters, but overnight camping is not currently available.
