Overlook Recreation Area
This is a day-use area only with no overnight camping. The picnic shelter is reservable or available first-come-first-served. Seasonal restrooms operate May 1 through October 29.
About
The Overlook Recreation Area is a day-use facility at Woodcock Creek Lake, managed by the US Army Corps of Engineers near Meadville, Pennsylvania. Despite appearing in campground listings, this is not a campground and overnight camping is not permitted at any USACE recreation areas at Woodcock Creek Lake. The main attraction is a covered picnic shelter that can accommodate 30-40 people. The shelter has electrical outlets, a three-bay charcoal grill, water spigot, and nearby seasonal restrooms. The shelter is reservable for $50 or available first-come-first-served at no charge. Amenities include a covered gazebo with swing, concrete cornhole boards, and accessibility ramps. The broader area offers an 18-hole disc golf course, walking and hiking trails, and scenic views of Woodcock Creek Lake. For actual overnight camping in the area, visitors should look to Woodcock Lake Park, a separate facility managed by Crawford County Commissioners on the south side of the lake.
Directions
From I-79, take Exit 154 and proceed on Route 198 east for 7 miles through Saegertown to Woodcock Creek Lake Dam. The Overlook Recreation Area is approximately 1/4 mile past the dam on the right.
