About
Overlook Recreation Area is a day-use facility located at Woodcock Creek Lake in northwestern Pennsylvania, operated by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Situated approximately 1/4 mile past the dam on Route 198, the area offers a scenic vantage point of the lake amid rolling hills and woodlands.
The centerpiece is a modern picnic shelter that accommodates up to 40 people, equipped with electrical outlets and drinking water from a hydrant. The shelter is reservable for $50 or available first-come-first-served at no charge. Additional amenities include a covered gazebo with a swing offering panoramic lake views, picnic tables, benches, accessible ramps, and a large paved parking lot. Restroom facilities are available seasonally from May 1 through October 31.
Visitors can access a variety of recreational activities including walking and hiking trails, an 18-hole disc golf course, fishing in the lake (20hp motor limit) and downstream, plus opportunities for canoeing, kayaking, boating, and birding. The area connects to the 1-mile long dam crest trail and is conveniently located near partner-managed facilities including Stainbrook Park and Pennsylvania Game Commission lands.
