Special Weather Statement issued January 19 at 8:55AM EST by NWS Pittsburgh PA
Snow showers will continue to move across the region this morning. Some of these will produce visibility down to a half of a mile, and a quick accumulation of snow on roads. Use caution if traveling, and watch for rapid changes in visibility and slick roads.
Special Weather Statement issued January 19 at 8:29AM EST by NWS State College PA
A sharp cold front will help to generate multiple snow showers and possibly some dangerous snow squalls. Interstate 80, especially in Clearfield County, and Route 6 and Route 219 have a high likelihood for snow showers and possibly snow squalls as well. The most likely timing for any squalls is between 11 AM EST and 3 PM EST. The gusty winds and reduced visibility cause rapid accumulations of snow. The reduced traction and blinding visibility inside a snow squall can make travel very dangerous very quickly. Use extra caution if you must travel into a snow squall, slow down and consider exiting the highway. Rapid changes in visibility and potentially slick roads may lead to accidents. Please use extreme caution and allow plenty of stopping distance. Avoid braking suddenly.
