About

Windsor State Forest is located in the northern Berkshires of western Massachusetts, offering a rustic camping experience amidst scenic New England woodlands. The highlight of this state forest is Windsor Jambs, a spectacular 80-foot-deep granite gorge carved by Jambs Brook, featuring stunning rapids and waterfalls that draw hikers and photographers throughout the warmer months. When operational, the campground features 24 primitive, unserviced tent sites without hookups or modern conveniences. The forest also includes a day-use area with a swimming hole and sandy beach along Windsor Jambs Brook. Picnic facilities and comfort stations are available throughout the park. The campground is currently closed to camping until further notice. DCR recommends nearby DAR State Forest as an alternative, which offers 50 campsites on a ridge between Highland Lake and scenic wetlands where moose, bear, and beaver are common visitors.
