Indian Hollow

Indian Hollow Group Campground sits within the Knightville Dam recreation area in the hills of western Massachusetts. The campground is designed exclusively for community groups such as scout troops, schools, and civic organizations. Two large group sites provide riverfront camping along the nationally recognized East Branch of the Westfield River, with flush toilets, showers, and potable water available on site. The surrounding area offers diverse recreation opportunities. The rivers and streams provide excellent trout fishing, with brown, brook, and rainbow trout stocked by the state in spring and fall. The 6-mile East Branch Trail connects Chesterfield Gorge to the Knightville Wildlife Management Area and is accessible directly from the campground. The 2-mile Claude M. Hill Horse Trail links the campground to the dam area for equestrian use. In summer, open meadows in the river basin bloom with wildflowers, attracting songbirds and butterflies. The area is part of a Massachusetts Watchable Wildlife site where visitors may spot deer, coyotes, beavers, wild turkeys, and waterfowl.

Directions

From the intersection of State Route 143 and South Street in Chesterfield center, turn south on South Street. Follow for approximately 2 miles and turn right onto Indian Hollow Road. Follow Indian Hollow Road to the end; the campground gate is at the end of the road. Key pickup is required at 49 Knightville Dam Road, Huntington, MA.
