About
Established in 1929 when the Daughters of the American Revolution donated 1,020 acres to Massachusetts, DAR State Forest now encompasses 1,700+ acres of rolling forested terrain in the Pioneer Valley. The 51-site campground occupies a scenic ridge between Upper Highland Lake and expansive wetlands that attract moose, black bear, and beaver. Each campsite comes equipped with a picnic table, pedestal grill, fire ring, and food storage locker. The campground provides accessible flush toilets and hot showers, with a dump station located at the headquarters complex. A separate group campsite sits 1.5 miles from the main camping area and offers a more rustic experience with composting toilets only. Recreational opportunities include 15 miles of trails suitable for all experience levels, a fire tower with panoramic mountain views, and an accessible nature trail. Upper and Lower Highland Lakes provide sandy beaches for swimming and excellent paddling conditions. Fishing is permitted in both lakes.

From Route 9 in Goshen, take Route 112 south approximately 1 mile. The park entrance is on the left at 78 Cape Street.
